How to change the case of text

  1. 1

    Paste or type your text

Add the text you want to change. It stays in your browser and is never uploaded.

  2. 2

    Choose a case

Pick upper, lower, title or sentence case, or camelCase, snake_case or kebab-case. The result updates straight away.

  3. 3

    Copy the result

Press Copy result and paste it where you need it.

Fix the case in one tap

Text arrives in the wrong case all the time: a heading typed in capitals, a caption with no capitals, a list of names to turn into file names. Paste it in, choose a case and copy the result.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between title case and sentence case?

Title case capitalises the main words, as in “The Lord of the Rings”. Sentence case capitalises only the first word of each sentence and names, as in “The lord of the rings”. Headlines often use title case, while many websites and style guides prefer sentence case for headings.

How does title case treat small words like of and the?

Short words such as a, an, and, as, at, but, by, for, in, nor, of, on, or, the, to and up stay in lower case, unless they are the first or last word. Style guides differ a little, so give a title a quick read before you use it. Words like NASA are lowered first and then capitalised, so fix acronyms by hand.

What are camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case used for?

They are ways of writing several words as one name without spaces. camelCase (helloWorld) and snake_case (hello_world) are common for variables in programming, and kebab-case (hello-world) is common in web addresses and file names. Each line is converted on its own.

Will converting to upper or lower case change anything else?

No. Only the letters change. Numbers, punctuation, spaces and line breaks stay exactly as they were, and letters with accents are handled too.

Does it work with languages other than English?

Yes for upper and lower case, including accented letters. The title case and sentence case rules for small words and “I” are written for English, so check results in other languages.
