Not included

  • Workers in free zones with their own labour rules, such as DIFC and ADGM, and UAE nationals, who come under pension and social security rules.
  • Part-time and other work patterns, which are scaled by contracted hours.
  • Employers that offer the voluntary savings scheme instead of gratuity.
  • Unpaid notice, leave pay, bonuses and any other amounts owed at the end of a job.
  • A day’s wage is worked out as your monthly basic salary divided by the number of days you set below (30 by default). The law does not give this figure, so check it with your employer or MOHRE.

How to estimate UAE end-of-service gratuity

  1. 1

    Enter your basic salary

Use your last monthly basic wage. Leave out housing, transport and other allowances.

  2. 2

Add your first and last day

The calculator counts complete years and the part of the final year. Add any unpaid leave days, which do not count as service.

  3. 3

    Check the day setting

A day’s wage is your monthly basic salary divided by 30 unless you change it. Then read the result and the rules below it.

Estimate your end-of-service pay

Leaving a job in the UAE can mean a gratuity payment. This calculator turns your basic salary and dates into an estimate, and shows the working: service counted, wage days earned and whether the two-year limit applied.

Who it covers

It follows the rules for private-sector workers outside the free zones that have their own labour laws, such as DIFC and ADGM. UAE nationals come under a pension scheme instead. The result is an estimate, so confirm the final figure with your employer or MOHRE.

Frequently asked questions

How is UAE gratuity calculated?

Under Article 51 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, you get 21 days of wages for each of the first five years and 30 days for each year after that. Parts of a year count in proportion.

Is there a limit on UAE gratuity?

Yes. The total cannot be more than two years of wages. The calculator shows when the limit applies.

Do I get gratuity if I worked less than a year?

No. Gratuity needs at least one year of continuous service. Under a year, the calculator shows zero.

Which salary counts for gratuity?

The basic wage only. Allowances and bonuses are not included.

How does the calculator work out a day’s wage?

The law gives the days but not how to turn a monthly wage into a day, so the calculator divides your basic salary by 30. You can change that number. Ask your employer or MOHRE which method applies to you.
